Let’s Do Lunch…with Gino & Mel

Monday, 9 July 2012, 12:30PM – 1:30PM

ITV Daytime has commissioned a second series of Let’s Do Lunch…With Gino and Mel for summer 2012.

Following on from a successful first series last summer, GINO D’ACAMPO and MELANIE SYKES will return this year with a lunchtime menu of food, fun and entertainment.

In front of a live studio audience, each day Gino & Mel will welcome a guest celebrity to their kitchen to join them for the duration of the show. Gino will cook up a significant dish of their choice; maybe a pudding they ate whilst their partner proposed or a meal that reminds them of their mum. While Gino does the cooking, Mel and the celebrity will help him whilst chatting about their lives, loves & latest projects.

Series one saw a star-studded line up of lunch time guests including Sally Lindsay, Martin Kemp and Blur’s Alex James joining Gino and Mel for lunch; plus Gino undertook a string of surprise food challenges from eating some of the hottest chillies on the planet to setting the world record for the most ravioli made in two minutes.

The studio audience and viewers at home have a huge role to play in the lunch hour festivities – trying the lunch time dish which Gino has created and choosing which dish he will rustle up on the following day’s show. Plus Gino will deliver a daily food masterclass and solve an array of culinary dilemmas from “How do I make my Yorkshire puddings rise?” to “Why is my mash always lumpy?”

Let’s Do Lunch…With Gino & Mel promises to make your lunch hour the perfect place to kick back and be entertained.
Mel said: “I’m so happy Gino and I are returning to ITV with Let’s do Lunch. Food, laughs and celebrity guests – it’s going to be a fun summer!”
Gino said: “I’m thrilled to be returning with a second helping of Let’s Do Lunch and really looking forward to having a great time with Mel, the audience and the viewers. I can’t wait to get started – it’s going to be fantastico!”

ITV Commissioner, Daytime and Factual, Katy Thorogood said: “Indulge yourself with a helping of Gino and Mel every lunchtime. Its great entertainment with lots of laughs and delicious recipes you’ll want to have a go at.”

Executive Producer at ITV Studios Sharon Powers said: “I’m thrilled that Let’s Do Lunch is coming back. We had such fun the first time round & this time will be even better. Gino & Mel work so well together, and the viewers & studio audience really helped make this more than just a cookery show.”

Let’s Do Lunch…With Gino & Mel is an ITV Studios Production for ITV1. It was commissioned by Director of Factual and Daytime, Alison Sharman and Commissioner, Factual and Daytime, Katy Thorogood. The Executive Producer for ITV Studios is Sharon Powers.
