The Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant comedy series, which featured Warwick Davis, will wrap with a one-hour special as opposed to a full season run.

Val Kilmer will feature in the special, which is being co-produced by the BBC with Backlash Productions and HBO.

Davis said: “I am thrilled to be able to step back into Warwick’s shoes again for this special.

Stephen Merchant has seen his new US comedy pilot picked up by HBO for a full season.

HBO has given an eight-episode order for Hello Ladies, which Merchant co-wrote, directed and will star in.

Warwick Davis has revealed details regarding the upcoming Life’s Too Short special.

Davis told Digital Spy that the special will film in February next year.

“It’ll be a special that we will film next February,” Davis told Digital Spy. “I just got the script the other day, and it is amazing. It takes the story further, it takes the character further. It’s really funny. I can’t wait for it.”

Mirren to guest on Glee

Respected British actress Helen Mirren will make a guest appearance of sorts on Glee, where she will act as the “inner-voice” of one of the characters. Mirren’s will be heard but not seen in the episode.

Ricky Gervais is working on a new sitcom with Channel 4 in the UK, featuring in a pilot for a comedy where he plays a “confused” worker at a retirement home.

Ricky Gervais has confirmed via Twitter that Life’s Too Short has been renewed for a second season, set to air in spring of 2013.

Moffat denies quitting rumours

Doctor Who executive producer Steven Moffat has denied rumours he is quitting the show. Moffta took to Twitter to confirm that he is still keen to work on the BBC One show.

Ricky Gervais has confirmed that Life’s Too Short will return for a second season.

The sitcom, which features dwarf actor Warwick Davis, premiered late this year on BBC Two to average ratings.

Gervais tweeted today that the sitcom will return in spring 2013: “FAQ Second Series of Life’s Too Short Planned for spring 2013 An Idiot Abroad Special: The Short Way Round planned for end of 2012 (sic)”.

The Idiot Abroad special will involve Karl Pilkington teaming up with Warwick Davis on Sky1.

But his decision to bring his accountant along for advice and support doesn’t work out as planned. Meanwhile, to try and lift his spirits Warwick arranges a flat warming party, inviting new date Amy. With no luck convincing his old co-stars to come along, Warwick splashes out to book Cat Deeley as a celebrity guest for the evening. Amy arrives but Warwick spends the evening trying to impress Cat … which doesn’t go down well with either of them.

Ricky Gervais has hit back at critics of his latest comedy series Life’s Too Short. “People need to see the difference between programmes that satirise/highlight/reflect exploitation, and programmes that actually exploit,” he tweeted.

Whitehall to feature in new BBC Three comedy

Jack Whitehall will feature in a new comedy series for BBC Three. The comic will also write the series, entitled Bad Education, which will centre on a teacher described as “the worst teacher ever to grace the British education system”.

Glee chasing Ricky Martin
