New Impressions Show

Former Coronation Street and Bad Girls star Debra Stephenson is set to reveal a new dimension to her talents as she stars alongside impressionist Jon Culshaw in The New Impressions Show, a new pre-watershed comedy show on BBC One.

The New Impressions Show is a series of eight 30 minute editions featuring Jon Culshaw – best known for his Tom Baker and George W Bush impersonations – doing what he does best alongside the lovely Debra and a supporting cast of impressionist newcomers.

As is expected with the format, Jon and Debra’s targets range from across the worlds of popular culture, sport and politics so get ready to see EastEnders, Simon Cowell, The One Show, The Apprentice, Wayne Rooney, Boris Johnson and Gordon Ramsay, reinterpreted by Culshaw and his new partner in crime.

It’s all part of a new approach to comedy from the BBC, who are attempting to revamp the pre-9pm slots with comedy shows that don’t rely on rewriting the same sitcom over and over. The New Impressions Show is fortunate to be helmed by such a team as Culshaw and Stephenson, and it is about time the attractive actress was seen once more on screen.

Culshaw is of course an old hand at comedy – but what about Coronation Street star Debra Stephenson? Well, it may surprise you to learn that she has earned her standup comedy wings at venues such as London’s famous Comedy Store as well as appearing pre-Coronation Street in sketch show TV To Go alongside Hugh Dennis on ITV in 2000.

Only just announced in early April, the New Impressions Show is expected to air in the Autumn.
