One Direction

You could be forgiven for thinking that One Direction – being the biggest boy band on the planet – wouldn’t experience any problems with having people recognise them…

But that’s precisely what happened when Niall Horan tried to get into London nightspot Funky Buddha for his band mate Liam Payne’s 19th birthday party!

The bouncer on the door had no clue who Niall was, but luckily, the club’s manager did, so he was – eventually – allowed in.

Poor old Niall struggled to even get there though, tweeting, “Why is traffic in london soo bad?

“Soo frustratin, haha also taxi driver loves classical music, smashin it up! Never heard so many symphonies.”

Well he made it in the end, but Zayn Malik didn’t and he apparently chose instead to have a night in with his Little Mix girlfriend, Perrie Edwards.

It’s been revealed this morning that One Direction will be headlining at the Radio One Teen Awards this year, alongside their fellow X Factor success story Little Mix, and singers Taylor Swift and Conor Maynard.

DJ Scott Mills made the announcement earlier this morning when 1D’s Niall Horan nipped into the Radio One studios.

Of the news, Niall said, “It was so much fun last year and it’s a great line-up. It’s always good to be on a great bill.

“And obviously with the Teen Hero Award, it’s an award for people who have done amazing things, obviously it’s great to be part of that as well.”

The annual event, which is in its third year, celebrates a whole host of achievements, across the world of celebrity and the lives of young people.

We’ll begin our X Factor news round up today with judge Tulisa who’s revealed that when it comes to finding love, all she wants is a man who’ll be good to her and who’s honest and reliable.

She said, “If I find someone who’s a good guy that I get along with, I don’t really care what he does, and that goes for anything.

“I don’t care if he works in McDonald’s. The one is the one.”

However, she may be too busy for romance right now as she told the Sun, “I’m out and about a lot and I meet loads of people but it’s hard to meet someone.

“If I can’t find it at events where I’m surrounded by people similar to me, in the same industry, I doubt I’m gonna find it in a contestant.

“I’d never date someone I’m mentoring, or any contestant while the show is on.

“But if I met a contestant six months down the line that was not in my category, who I just happened to find chemistry with…

“I’d date anyone who I got along with or who I found date-worthy. Like I said, it doesn’t matter what their job is.”

One Direction star Harry Styles has probably tried every disguise going in order to be able to walk down the street unrecognized…

However, when he donned an anatomy suit yesterday during a mess about with his BFF Nick Grimshaw, he certainly was good and disguised!

Harry put on the suit, which shows what goes on under the skin, during a visit to a park with Grimmers, and an onlooker at Primrose Hill, North London – where Harry is reportedly set to buy a house – told the Sun, “One minute Harry was wearing his trademark T-shirt and jeans…

“The next he was wearing the suit and running up and down the hill. The next he looked like Freddy Krueger.

It’s been reported today that during the closing ceremony of the Olympics – where of course One Direction joined a host of other music stars to perform live – 1D band member Zayn Malik met a “sexy” dancer, and asked her for her phone number!

Zayn is of course dating Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, and it has been rumoured recently that the pair are planning to move in together, but in light of the report from Entertainmentwise, Perrie might want to rethink the idea.

According to sources at the show, Zayn asked for the phone number of one pretty dancer “through his security and PR team.”

The source said, “When the security guard came over she thought she was going to get told off for asking for a photograph with Zayn.

“When he then asked for her number, she thought it was a joke. She was too embarrassed to look over when he asked for the number…

“But he seemed to be playing it cool and didn’t really react when she said no.

As fans of 1D will know, the lads have been very much involved in the Olympics, from cheering on their faves to performing in the closing ceremony…

And yesterday, band member Niall Horan made a very special trip home to Ireland to spend time with silver medal winner John Joe Nevin in his – and Niall’s – hometown of Mullingar, Co Westmeath.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Niall revealed how he’s talked to John Joe every day for the past three weeks.

He said, “I wasn’t going to come home at all but I had to be here. I was at three of his fights.

“It was the only thing I was at. He is such a legend. I grew up across the road from him. I’ve known him all my life.”

Niall went on to reveal that he hadn’t been able to see John Joe between the fights, so he’d attempted to sneak into the Olympic village to see the boxer, but was turned away.

One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles has of course proven that he’s a fan of the older women, having dated Caroline Flack and Lucy Horobin – both of whom are in their thirties – however, his latest I So Would candidate is maths whiz, Carol Vorderman!

At 51, Carol is 33 years older than Harry, but that hasn’t put him off – though she might feel differently – and a friend of his recently told the Sun, “Harry absolutely fancies the pants off of Carol, and has for years.

“He has always said that he would love to take her on a date but that he wouldn’t have the guts to actually ask her out in case she turned him down.

“But Carol is definitely the ultimate cougar for Harry.”

Last night, the One Direction boys joined a prestigious line up of music biz stars for the closing ceremony of the Olympics 2012, and we have pictures and video of their brilliant performance.

The boys of course sang their hit single, ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ for their big debut and that had everyone up on their feet singing along while the boys’ fans screamed at the top of their lungs throughout!

As fans of One Direction will know, the lads all enjoy a spot of golf, and they really enjoy a spot of boozing, and yesterday, Niall Horan managed to fit in both pastimes, beginning with a round or two of golf with his JLS buddy, Marvin Humes.

However, unfortunately for Niall, his golf pants were evidently a bit tight, because he ended up splitting them. Bless.

Niall tweeted, “Just played golf with marv! Great laugh! I split my trousers right down the middle on the first hole, tie’n my shoe laces hahaha! #fool”

However, with his pants changed for more comfy – and fitting – jeans, the 18-year-old singer then enjoyed a night out at celebrity hotspot Funky Buddha…

The Mail reports, “As he helped two of his friends celebrate their birthdays, the Irish star was grinning from ear-to-ear and clearly loving his solo night out. Nick Grimshaw – who has of course taken up where Chris Moyles left off at Radio 1 – and his BGG, One Direction star Harry Styles, have been joking on Twitter about the size of their penises.

It all began when Harry tweeted a picture of his shoe next to a ‘huge’ watermelon, along with the caption, “@grimmers Hahaha! Fincham the penishead. Biggest Watermelon ever.”

Nick replied, “That’s a grape. You have miniature feet. Tell your fans the truth.”

Harry and Nick became good friends while Harry was dating Caroline Flack, who is also a friend of Nick’s.

However, to Nick’s tweet, Harry responded, “No never. you have grape toes.”
