There’s skullduggery afoot in forthcoming episodes of EastEnders when Sharon Rickman and Phil Mitchell get engaged…

Because though to the rest of the world, the engagement seems like the real thing, it’s not – it’s a sham. But why Shazzer and Philbo would set about a sham engagement hasn’t yet been revealed.

But what has been revealed is that aside from the ‘happy couple’, only Jack Branning will know that it’s all a rouse, but that doesn’t mean he has to like it!

While teasing the storyline, a show insider told the Daily Star Sunday, “Phil and Sharon are going to get engaged but it’s part of a bigger storyline involving the couple.

“Sharon is still seeing Jack so the fake engagement to Phil is going to cause them a number of problems. It also brings Phil and Sharon even closer together.

“And with his long-term girlfriend Shirley Carter out of the picture, who knows where it might lead? Continue reading »

We have a clip for you ahead of tonight’s episode – which you can see after the jump – but in episodes that air next week, when Shirley’s chatted up by a bloke in the pub, she enjoys the fact that Phil’s jealous… Continue reading »

We’ll begin today’s round up of EastEnders news and spoilers with a report in the Daily Mail that reveals that Shona McGarty has returned to the set of the soap and her role as Whitney Dean.

You may recall that she was suspended for a month after the show’s producer, Lorraine Newman, received “numerous” complaints from Shona’s co-stars who were unhappy that their own schedules were being disrupted by her frequent bouts of arriving late on set.

And of course, it wasn’t on the cast who were often held up by Shona’s failure to make it to filming on time as the crew were also often delayed, causing the BBC to have to pay them overtime.

Of that issue, the paper states that Shona was ordered to repay the corporation “thousands of pounds” at the time that Ms Newman suspended the actress… Continue reading »

And in tonight’s episode, Ben’s dad Phil – who is of course now Shirley’s fiancé – will beg her not to go the police, pleading with her to consider what she’d have done if it had been one of her kids.

He tells her, “What if it was your Carly eh?” saying that he knows that she, like him, would do whatever it took to protect her kids.

But what will Shirley decide? Tune in to find out, but for now here’s a sneak peek look at tonight’s episode… Continue reading »

And of course, one of the most angry of the Square’s residents will be Andrew Cotton, who was engaged to Heather and was initially the prime suspect in her murder.

The shocking revelation is set to prompt Andrew to make “a big decision” about his future in Walford, especially as he struggles to believe that Shirley had no idea that Ben was the killer.

However, he finally does accept that she knew nothing, but by then, he’s made up his mind that he can’t stay on the Square, given it’s full of hurtful memories for him.

So we’ll see Andrew bidding a poignant farewell to the Square, which actor Ricky Grover filmed around six weeks ago.
