Gervais offered US Office lead role

Ricky Gervais says he was offered the lead role in the US version of The Office before Steve Carell but said turned it down as he felt there was no point in him playing that role. “They said ‘Do you want to play the main role?’ but what’s the point of that?” Gervais said. “We made The Office, that was a document of what it was like to be in an English office and it was made by English people for English people, and this should be made by Americans for Americans.”

New magazine today report that Ashton Kutcher, new star of Two and a Half Men, has alerted American Air to the fact their website has links to an escort agency.

Here’s the story…

ASHTON KUTCHER has won the thanks of bosses at airline American Air after alerting them to the fact their ads are running on a website that offers escort services.

The actor, who is spearheading a campaign to end sex slavery in America and the rest of the world and bring the ringleaders to justice, went public with his findings on Friday (01Jul11).

He tweeted, “Hey @AmericanAir are you aware that you are advertising on a site that supports the Sale of Human Beings?”

The airline’s bosses responded minutes later via Twitter.com, writing, “We will address this IMMEDIATELY. Can you please DM (direct message) us detail of the site, including a link?”

Earlier this week (beg27Jun11) Kutcher targetted editors of a New York City newspaper, accusing them of “facilitating the sale of human beings” by publishing advertisements for escorts.

The actor took to his Twitter.com page to condemn bosses at The Village Voice for printing ads for escort agencies.

In a series of posts, Kutcher – who runs a foundation to tackle human trafficking – writes, “Hey Village Voice… maybe you can help me… How much $ (money) did your ‘escorts’ in you (sic) classifieds on Backpage make last year?

“How many of your girls selling themselves in your classifieds are you doing age verification on? Find another way to justify that your property facilitates the sale of human beings…

“If you ever want to have a productive conversation about how to end human trafficking as opposed to belittling my efforts LMK (let me know).”

Popstar and actor Justin Timberlake has revealed that he smokes cannabis to relax. As fans of hit MTV show Punk’d may recall, Justin was “caught” smoking weed by the show’s camera crew.

Here’s what the Daily Mirror has to say…

JUSTIN Timberlake admits he regularly smokes cannabis to “turn his brain off”. The singer and actor, 30, was caught stoned on camera by prank TV show Punk’d on MTV in 2003.

But asked if he smokes now, Justin said: “Absolutely. Pot stops me thinking, and sometimes I have a brain that needs to be turned off. Some people are better high.”

Justin also defended his ex, Britney Spears, over claims she does not perform as well as she did in the past.

He told Playboy: “If you pulled a video I did from 2003, I couldn’t do that.”

He also hit out at rumours he had cheated on Jessica Biel with Friends with Benefits co-star Mila Kunis.

The actor said: “It’s not true, so I shouldn’t even dignify it with an answer. These assumptions are bulls***.”

MTV is reportedly planning to reprieve their hit prank show Punk’d with new host Justin Bieber.

Ashton Kutcher, the creator and host of the original show, will stay on to produce the show and is said to be prepping the show to air next year.

Punk’d originally aired on MTV from 2003 to 2007 and featured Kutcher and his team of pranksters catching out various celebrities including Serena Williams, Rachel Bilson and Justin Timberlake on hidden cameras.

Ashton and Justin are currently ranked at numbers 3 and 5, respectively, on Twitter, and have more than 5 million followers each.

With a whole host of new celebrities to target, we can’t wait to see them get Biebered!
