sharon rickman

There’s skullduggery afoot in forthcoming episodes of EastEnders when Sharon Rickman and Phil Mitchell get engaged…

Because though to the rest of the world, the engagement seems like the real thing, it’s not – it’s a sham. But why Shazzer and Philbo would set about a sham engagement hasn’t yet been revealed.

But what has been revealed is that aside from the ‘happy couple’, only Jack Branning will know that it’s all a rouse, but that doesn’t mean he has to like it!

While teasing the storyline, a show insider told the Daily Star Sunday, “Phil and Sharon are going to get engaged but it’s part of a bigger storyline involving the couple.

“Sharon is still seeing Jack so the fake engagement to Phil is going to cause them a number of problems. It also brings Phil and Sharon even closer together.

“And with his long-term girlfriend Shirley Carter out of the picture, who knows where it might lead? Continue reading »

And of course, one of the most angry of the Square’s residents will be Andrew Cotton, who was engaged to Heather and was initially the prime suspect in her murder.

The shocking revelation is set to prompt Andrew to make “a big decision” about his future in Walford, especially as he struggles to believe that Shirley had no idea that Ben was the killer.

However, he finally does accept that she knew nothing, but by then, he’s made up his mind that he can’t stay on the Square, given it’s full of hurtful memories for him.

But I guess a girl has needs, and later on in the week, Jack Branning is going to do his best – what a giving guy – to attend to those needs when Sharon makes it clear she’s attracted to him.

We’ll see those scenes on Friday, August 17 at 9pm on BBC1.

As fans of the show will know, since Tanya, Max and Alfie found Ian living rough and brought him back to Walford, he hasn’t said a word and apparently won’t bathe either, given that he’s still manky and still clinging on to that grim hat he’s been wearing.

So it’s probably little surprise that Lucy freaks out!

Plus Sam Womack reveals heartache of family secrets in Who Do You Think You Are?

We’ll begin today’s EastEnders cast news with Jo Joyner – who of course plays Tanya Branning – who’s revealed that when her character first meets returnee Sharon Rickman, they don’t get off to the best of starts!

They meet after Phil takes Sharon round to Max and Tanya’s while he goes and explains to Shirley why he had to rush off to help his former mistress.

Sharon of course comes back to the Square on what should have been her wedding day, so when she arrives at the Branning’s house, she’s still wearing her bridal suit…

So the ever helpful Max – ever helpful when there’s a pretty blonde in need that is – offers Sharon some of Tanya’s clothes.

However, Tanya has no clue about any of this, so when she walks into the house and sees Sharon in her gear, she’s a tad put out!

In an interview with What’s On TV, Jo explained, “We definitely start things off a little bit ropey.

“They start off definitely a bit rocky, like anyone would with Tanya if they’ve been found in her kitchen with their husband, especially someone as gorgeous as Tish [Letitia Dean, who plays Sharon]… Continue reading »

More on that in a moment, but first, the show’s producer, Lorraine Newman, has revealed that the show’s bosses have been trying to entice Letitia back for a year.

Speaking to the Daily Star, she said, “It took a year of negotiations and talks to get Letitia back on the show.

“In the end we convinced her and it’s great having her back.

“She’s got some big things coming up and we’re all very excited.

“Obviously we’ve got the return of Bianca and Carol and their brood to look forward to this autumn and with Sharon now in the mix we’re very happy.”

Letitia was of course in the very first episode of the soap back in 1985 as Dirty Den and his wife Angie’s adopted daughter Sharon Watts. She’s since left and returned to the show several times.

Plus, Jean does an about turn over Michael, Kat’s wracked with guilt and Ian Beale’s back!

This week on EastEnders, it’s the big day of Michael and Janine’s wedding, but of course nothing’s going to go right for the couple…

Things first begin to go mammaries up when Michael owns up to having taken loadsa money from Jean Slater, and as if that wasn’t enough, he gives Janine an ultimatum which is, rip up the pre-nup or we’re done and won’t get married.

However, there’s worse to come because the stress of it all brings on Janine’s labour, and though she’s rushed to hospital, the couple’s baby girl is born a few hours later, and is barely clinging to life…

As she’s in the special care baby unit, surrounded by machines and anxious medics, Janine is advised that she should give her daughter a name just in case the worst happens, so she calls her Patricia which is of course after her stepmum Pat Evans.

But as we told you last week, Michael will overturn Janine’s decision and name the baby Scarlett when he registers her birth.

However, it remains to be seen if little baby Scarlett will pull through, but what is known is that in a fit of sympathy for new dad Michael, Jean will do a surprising U-turn over how he fleeced her of her own and the Vic’s money… Continue reading »
