Sherlock Holmes

The BBC’s Sherlock Holmes television series starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Love Actually star, Martin Freeman has landed a primetime slot on American channel PBS.

The first few episodes will air in October and is already being featured in an ad campaign that uses the detective’s catchphrase, “The Game Is On This Fall.”

Stars of the show, Benedict and Martin should be able to command a nice salary for the second series so it’s lucky that they “absolutely loved the show and are desperate to do more.”

Benedict seems certain that the US viewers will enjoy the show saying, “If I had a penny for every time a fan of the originals had come up to me and said, ‘I didn’t want to like this, but I did,’ I’d be a rich man.  The response has been phenomenal and it’s great. We are very flattered.”

The show will have competition in the US though as it will go up in the same slot as Martin Scorsese’s gangster series, Boardwalk Empire will is on HBO.
