The Bachelor

It has been confirmed that Gavin Henson will star in the UK version of The Bachelor.

Charlotte Church’s ex and Welsh rugby ace will star in the Channel 5 show which is based on the winning format from the US series where 25 girls will compete for his affections: all while living together in the same house.

Henson will then slash the numbers after taking them on individual dates and on group outings filmed in some of the most glamorous locations in the world.

He said of the show, “I’m so excited to have been cast as The Bachelor as I really feel the time is right for me to find a girl to hopefully spend the rest of my life with.  I’ve always been dedicated to my rugby and continue to train hard but as the season draws to an end I can focus on meeting the right girl. It can be hard in my situation to meet women and The Bachelor will give me the unique opportunity to go on some incredible dates and spend quality time getting to know amazing women from all over the UK.”

Director of programmes for Channel 5, Jeff Ford said, “We are delighted to have commissioned The Bachelor for Channel 5 and to be bringing this format to UK television.  Gavin Henson is the perfect bachelor and is hoping to find his ideal partner. I’m sure the viewers will enjoy this high energy and exciting journey as we follow Gavin in his quest to find true love.”

Henson, has two children with Charlotte Church is becoming a bit of a reality television buff having taken part in Strictly Come Dancing and 71 Degrees North recently.

The Bachelor will air on Channel 5 later this year.
