US comedy The Big Bang Theory begins its fourth series on 4 with a double bill. In the opening episode, Penny tags along to Sheldon’s first ever date with a woman he’s been texting for months. Meanwhile, Wolowitz finds a new use for a robotic arm. And in the second episode, when Sheldon realises that he won’t live long enough to download his consciousness into a robot body, he attempts to extend his lifespan.

Raj and Howard register Sheldon for online dating and find the perfect woman; the female version of Sheldon.

This episode flashes back to the start of Sheldon and Leonard friendship seven years previously and explains the housemate agreement and how Sheldon saved the lives of his friends.

Rickitt lands political role

Ex-Coronation Street actor Adam Rickitt has landed a new job as a political reporter for the Conservative Party Conference. Rickitt,will work for morning current affairs programme Daybreak. He has previous experience in politics after a brief stint as a Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate in 2005.

Pisani takes out Top Model finale

Tifani Pisani has been crowned the winner of Britain’s Next Top Model after last night’s live finale. The Wolverhampton native beat fellow finalists Joy McLaren and Alisha White in the finale of the Living show.

No Ordinary Family coming to Watch

New superhero drama series No Ordinary Family has been picked up by Watch over here to roll out in January next year. The series, which stars Dexter’s Julie Benz and The Shield’s Michale Chiklis, is one of ABC’s most successful new season launches to date.

Cuoco returns to The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco has returned to the show after taking a short break due to a broken leg she suffered last month, having missed only two episodes of the comedy. Producers of the show are planning on writing the actress’s injury into the storyline.

Conrad drops details on new MTV series

Lauren Conrad has released details about her upcoming reality project for MTV, saying the show will be more “career-based” and revolve around her contemporary fashion line Paper Crown. The show will also take in her other projects such as TV work and her novels.

Seven Days premieres to only 1 million viewers

Channel 4’s brand new reality series Seven Days debuted to 1 million viewers on Wednesday night, which was a minor 5.9% audience share from 10pm.

Dushku to guest on Big Bang

Dollhouse actress Eliza Dushku will join the cast of The Big Bang Theory for an episode in the next season of the comedy series. Dushku will play an FBI agent who interviews the boys.

Goodfellas TV series in the works

A TV series based on 1990 gangster movie Goodfellas is in the works, with Warner Bros TV the frontrunner to produce the series. Screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi, who wrote the original Martin Scorsese movie, is expected to write the script for the pilot.

The Simpsons named greatest TV brand

The Simpsons have been named the most lucrative TV brand of all time, with a global retail sales total of more than $US8 million. Sesame Street took second place followed by Looney Tunes in third.

Emma’s Imagination wins MBTM

Emma’s Imagination has taken out Sky1’s Must Be The Music competition after prevailing over fellow finalists The Pictures and Missing Andy at Wembley Arena. The 27-year-old, real name Emma Gillespie, will take home £100,000 in prize money for the win.

Cole signs US X Factor deal?

Cheryl Cole has reportedly signed a deal to appear on the US version of The X Factor, which is believed to be in the millions of pounds. There is talk the singer will quit her post on the UK version and move to the States.

Spartacus actor leaves second season

Spartacus: Blood & Sand actor Andy Whitfield has announced his departure from the series’ second season after a recurrence of his cancer which delayed its initial filming. Whitfield, who plays Spartacus on the show, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in March this year.

Cuoco to miss more Big Bang

The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco will miss the filming of several more episodes of the comedy series after sustaining a broken leg in an accident last week. The actress, who plays Penny, was only expected to be written out of one episode initially, but estimates are now at three or four.

Gervais and Merchant develop third comedy

Ricky Gervais and The Office co-creator Stephen Merchant are at work on a new series called Life’s Too Short for the BBC. The show will centre on the life of Britain’s premiere little-person actor Warwick Davis, who appeared on an episode of Extras as well as in the Harry Potter and Star Wars franchises. It will be Gervais and Merchant’s third TV series following The Office and Extras.
