The Inbetweeners

Inbetweeners-MovieIt looks like we may soon have some new Inbetweeners to enjoy.

Several reports are suggesting that Simon Bird, Blake Harrison, James Buckley and Joe Thomas have agreed to return to their roles for a second movie to be set in Australia.

A “source” told The Sun: “It wasn’t easy for any of the guys involved to call it a day after the last film. They were a tight-knit family and really missed each other when it all came to an end. The writers, DAMON BEESLEY and IAIN MORRIS, have been knocking ideas around for a while and came up with something they thought would be good enough to maintain the high standards they have set. They never thought all the lads would be up for coming back so soon as they have become big stars in their own right. But when James said he was game the other week, everything seemed to click into place.” Continue reading »

ChickensInbetweeners actors Simon Bird and Joe Thomas will be joined by Barry Humphries and Sally Phillips in the new Sky1 comedy Chickens.

Bird and Thomas star in the WWI comedy that sees them play young men who stay in the UK during the war, while all the rest of the men head away.

Humphries will join the series as Mr Armstrong, the headmaster at a local school.

He said of his role: “This is a wonderful opportunity for three of the funniest and most talented men in the Northern hemisphere to work with me. I am very proud of my young supporting cast, whose names I cannot remember at the moment…” Continue reading »

It’s not looking likely that we will be getting anymore Inbetweeners anytime soon.

Actor Blake Harrison – who played Neil – has said that there are “no real plans” to revive the E4 comedy series.

“The press seem to know more about it than I do,” Harrison told TV Choice. “There is always a story that I know nothing about.

“Not too long ago it was, ‘Oh there’s going to be a fourth series of The Inbetweeners and one of the lads is going to get killed off’. I was like, ‘Well, I haven’t heard anything about that, so that looks bad for me!’

He said that while there has been talk of a movie sequel, it is just talk at this stage. Continue reading »

Channel 4 was boosted last night by the first TV screening of The Inbetweeners Movie.

The movie, a follow up to the popular E4 series, aired at 9pm last night and drew an impressive average audience of 2.78m (13.8%) with a further 553,000 on +1.

The audience was on a par with that of the season three finale of the show in 2010.

The Inbetweeners creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris have confirmed they are working on a sequel to the movie.

In the Radio Times the pair said they are near to completing a script for the movie, which would be a follow up to the 2011 release based in Greece.

“Inbetweeners fans are more discerning and vocal than people give them credit for,” Morris said. “The last thing any of us wants is a cheap cash-in. At the moment the script is at version 0.5, so we’re getting close… but we’re not there yet.” Continue reading »

Comedy Commissioning Editor, Fiona McDermott announced today a new series commission called Drifters, produced by Bwark Productions, a Zodiak Media Company.

Drifters is a comedy drama about three twenty-something young women experiencing their first slice of the real world post University – making terrible decisions, but having a brilliant time doing it.

For the ‘Drifter’ girls it’s time to start asking some serious questions: What do they do now? Who are they going to be? And is it ok to shag someone with a sweat problem if you haven’t had sex in twelve months?

Not fully paid up career women, Meg (Jessica Knappett), Bunny (Lydia Rose Bewley) and Laura (Lauren O’Rourke) take on a series of menial jobs in their home town of Leeds that allow them to cling to the last vestiges of girlhood – that stage where everything is terrifying and exciting in equal measure.
