The Milkshake! Show

Weekdays, 8:35am on Five

Continuing on Milkshake! this week is the awardwinning preschool animation series ‘Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom’. Produced by Astley Baker Davies, creators of the hugely successful ‘Peppa Pig’, the series follows the adventures of close friends Holly and Ben, a young fairy princess still in training and a toy-making elf respectively. Ben and Holly’s world is Little Kingdom, a tiny land hidden amongst thorny brambles, where flowers and grass rise above the tallest towers. Holly lives in the little palace with her parents King and Queen Thistle, Nanny Plum and Holly’s cheeky little twin sisters Daisy and Poppy. Daisy and Poppy are not very good at flying or magic – but that does not stop them from trying! Ben, meanwhile, lives with his parents Mr and Mrs Elf in the great elf tree. Ben’s dad drives the elf truck that delivers food to the fairies, while Mrs Elf is very good at doing everything else! Other inhabitants of the realm include teacher and factory owner Wise Old Elf, and Ben and Holly’s great friend Gaston, an untidy ladybird who barks and pants like a dog. The week’s first episode is ‘Fun and Games’ on Monday. Ben and Holly are having fun playing together. Holly gets frustrated when Ben uses his elf skills to win all the games, then Ben becomes annoyed when Holly gets her own back! In ‘King Thistle Is Not Well’ on Tuesday, King Thistle has a cold and needs some medicine. Holly and the gang have fun collecting the ingredients for a magic potion to make him better. ‘The Lost Egg’ on Wednesday sees Ben, Holly and Gaston the ladybird find a large egg in the meadow. When a tiny chick hatches, the friends must find the mummy bird. In ‘The Elf Games’ on Thursday, Ben is in training for the games. Holly wants to join in but the rules state there’s no flying or magic allowed! And on Friday, ‘Nanny Plum’s Lesson’ finds Nanny Plum teaching the girls some important fairy rules. However, when she is blown away, Ben, Holly and Gaston come to her rescue.
