Comedians Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer open the series, and other guests include Professor Green and Big Lew, all of Steps, Colin Jackson and Jonathan Edwards, Natalie Cassidy and Frankie Cocozza, Mark Foster and Rachel Riley, Sara Cox and Aled Haydn Jones, and Jedward. Remarkable Television, an Endemol company has been commissioned to produce eight special episodes of The Million Pound Drop in celebration of a historic summer of sport.

Over four weekends a mixture of top class celebrities and noted sportsmen from the Paralympic Games, Olympic Games and other sporting fields, will be tasked with the challenge of raising as much money as they can for charity.

Channel 4 today announces The Million Pound Drop mobile app, which will launch on iOS and Android, featuring a brand new Play Any Time Game as well as a Play Along Game.

The mobile app was created by producers of The Million Pound Drop Live, Remarkable Television, an Endemol company and was developed by dual screen technology pioneers Monterosa.

Celebrities to feature on Million Pound Drop

Dermot O’Leary and Fearne Cotton will feature on a celebrity version of Million Pound Drop. The pair will compete to win money for the breast cancer charity CoppaFeel!.

Mongrels axed

BBC Three series Mongrels has been axed following the conclusion of its second season. The puppet comedy began on the channel in 2010.

Goldblum joins Glee

Jeff Goldblum has joined the cast of Glee to play the father of one of the characters. Goldman will join actor Brian Stokes Mitchell in playing the role of Rachel’s gay adoptive fathers.

Dermot O’Leary and Fearne Cotton will take part in a one-off episode of ‘Million Pound Drop’ for charity. 

The ‘X Factor’ presenter and the Radio 1 DJ will join host Davina McCall on the Channel 4 show on Friday February 3, where they will attempt to raise money for organisation CoppaFeel! – which aims to eradicate the late detection and misdiagnosis of breast cancer by encouraging regular checks and by raising awareness of symptoms. 

Just eight questions will stand between the celebrity duo and the £1 million prize, with whatever they win being donated to the charity.

Ulster-born siblings Martin and Louise O’Kane were the first winners of the new series on Saturday (14.01.12) when they walked away with £125,000 in prize money, even though they were forced to wait 24 hours from Friday’s show (13.01.12) to complete the live game. 

Martin said: “It was such a tense moment and I think that both of us were just running on adrenaline and instinct at that stage. 

“When we realised we had won, it was a terrific feeling – that amount of money was beyond our wildest dreams. 

“I think the break between Friday and Saturday’s show helped us in a way – we back came on Saturday without all the nerves and knew what to expect.”
