The Ricky Gervais Show

This animated comedy series spans 13 x 30-minute episodes much of which consists of Karl Pilkington musing on everything from slugs and freaks to the mind body problem and world hunger. The show has been sold around the world and been nominated for 5 Emmys.

The Ricky Gervais Show is based on the record breaking podcast which won a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most downloads and last year passed the incredible 340 million download mark.

Ricky Gervais has dropped some info on the new comedy series featuring his Ricky Gervais Show collaborator Karl Pilkington.

On his website, Gervais said the series will take Pilkington around the globe as he visits the seven wonders of the world.

“It’s funny and interesting and different because it’s so honest,” he said. “Karl is amazing to watch out of his comfort zone.

“I think [he] is the funniest man in the world, but put him in the most uncomfortable situations you can imagine and it’s even better.”

“It’s called An Idiot Abroad. Karl is not happy. Perfect. I actually reveal it to him in show seven. It’s hilarious. All the way round the world up to then he thinks it’s called Karl Pilkington’s Seven Wonders.”

Sky1 will screen the series later this year.
