Ricky Gervais has decided to call and end to both An Idiot Abroad and The Ricky Gervais Show.

In a post on his official blog, Gervais confirmed that he will be concentrating on a full season of his Channel 4 project Derek.

This animated comedy series spans 13 x 30-minute episodes much of which consists of Karl Pilkington musing on everything from slugs and freaks to the mind body problem and world hunger. The show has been sold around the world and been nominated for 5 Emmys.

The Ricky Gervais Show is based on the record breaking podcast which won a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most downloads and last year passed the incredible 340 million download mark.

Ricky Gervais has confirmed that production has commenced on two of his current TV projects.

He confirmed that the third season of The Ricky Gervais Show is nearly finished while early meetings have been held for An Idiot Abroad 3: The Short Way Round.

“Started planning a European tour, put the final touches to the 3rd season of The Ricky Gervais Show (should have a confirmed TX date next week for you), had a production meeting about AIA3 The Short Way Round (Karl is already trying to get out of it),” he wrote on his blog.

The third season of An Idiot Abroad will focus on Karl Pilkington and Life’s Too Short actor Warwick Davis.
