The Unforgettables

ITV has commissioned another series of the successful format ‘The Unforgettables’ which celebrates the lives of the country’s comedy greats.

Legendary entertainer Bob Monkhouse and the king of ‘pranks’ Jeremy Beadle are two of the nations best loved stars whose extensive showbiz careers will be showcased in these one hour specials made by North One for ITV1.

The shows will feature archive footage of these two comedy favorites in a host of their best loved TV shows and will include intimate portraits of the stars painted by those who knew them best and with whom they had a genuinely close relationship.

Bob Monkhouse began his career as a stand-up comedian but is best known for hosting some of the UK’s best loved TV shows.  He was the consummate ringleader on the biggest rating quiz shows including The Golden Shot, Celebrity Squares, Bob’s Full House and Opportunity Knocks bringing his impeccable comedic timing and unique talent to ‘ad-lib’ to the forefront.

He also fronted his own chat show called The Bob Monkhouse Show which aired in 1983.  As well as big name guests from TV and film it allowed Bob to champion new comedians giving them a platform in which to attract the viewing public.

Jeremy Beadle is best known for his groundbreaking hidden camera show Beadle’s About.  The long running series produced some of TV’s most memorable moments and influenced the entertainment genre on British television.

He first hit the TV screens on game show Celebrity Squares and fronted Saturday night’s rating’s hit Game For A Laugh alongside Matthew Kelly, Sarah Kennedy and Henry Kelly.  As well as presenting Jeremy also wrote many TV formats including the hugely successful You’ve Been Framed in which he also presented.

The Unforgettables is a North One production for ITV1 and is commissioned by Elaine Bedell, Director of Entertainment and Comedy, ITV.  The executive producer is John Quinn, North One.
