Thelma’s Gypsy Girls

After months of training and education, Thelma’s course is coming to an end, but just as she is facing the tough choice of which of the girls to keep on, an allegation of racism explodes in the factory and Thelma has to face the daily prejudices of being a Traveller. The girls have one last challenge: to design their own dresses and showcase them on a catwalk in front of their friends and family.

Dressmaker Thelma Madine, from Big Fat Gypsy Weddings, employs ten new trainees, all of whom are gypsies or travellers. For some their first day at the factory is the first day’s paid work they’ve ever done, and the novices battle to understand the general rules of a professional work place. As tensions rise, Thelma begins to realise that her good intentions could seriously jeopardise her business.

Dressmaker Thelma Madine, from Big Fat Gypsy Weddings, has decided she wants to give something back to the people who put her on the map. In this new series she takes the decision to employ ten new trainees, all of whom are gypsies or travellers. For the gypsy girls it’s the opportunity of a lifetime. But for existing staff it feels like a serious upheaval, and for Thelma it could be out of the frying pan and into the fire.
