Top Dog Model

Wednesday, 10 October 2012, 8:00PM – 9:00PM

The hunt is on to find Britain’s coolest canine in a brand new show for ITV2, Top Dog Model.

Television’s favorite Stacey Solomon, fashion model Lilah Parsons and Hollywood dog agent Addison Witt search for Britain’s most mutterly gorgeous dog with help from guest judge, Britain’s Got Talent winners Ashleigh and Pudsey and voiced by David Walliams.

The show brings the glamorous world of modelling together with Britain’s love of dogs. Top Dog Model seeks to find a true doggie star – the new Cindy Pawford, Claudia Sniffer, Naomi Spaniel or Elle Macfurson perhaps…

The pooches will go head-to-head as they are tested for their suitability as models through a series of dog-eat-dog modeling assignments, including photo and video shoots as well as challenges designed to test their poise and behaviour.

It’s not just looks alone that will crown our furry favourite, as personality and star quality will need to shine through too. The contest is hotting up as only one mutterly gorgeous dog will land an advertising campaign for a well-known international brand.

This week it’s the final and one of our three furry finalists must be crowned Top Dog Model. Being the final, anything can happen and there is a surprise in store for one of our pretty pooches.

The three gorgeous mutts and their owners head off to the beach in their first assignment, a photo shoot for a tourist board. Their brief is to sell how much fun it is to be beside the English seaside.

The big final assignment is shooting a full scale advert. The winning ad will be used in an online campaign for Cif. It’s the longest and most complicated shoot the dogs have undertaken but who will clean up? Will one of the dogs wipe the floor with the others?

Finally it’s left to the three judges, Stacey, Addison and Lilah to make the crucial all important decision. Which dogs furry-tail is about to come true and be crowned Top Dog Model?

This week as our four hot hounds warm up for the final, they limber up for real in a dog yoga (or ‘doga’) class. Stacey and her Bulldog Molly, join the session which gets our Lycra-clad doggies in shape for this week’s first assignment – an action shoot, alongside stunt cyclist champion, Joe Oakley, in Epping Forest.

There’ll be no more sitting pretty as our semi-finalists will need to leap and run alongside Joe in order to get the shot. But who is bound for success?

And as if that wasn’t action-packed enough, this week’s second challenge is a live appearance on ITV’s This Morning, where our pretty pooches must model the latest doggie accessories. But can our canine contenders and their owners handle the pressure as they go live to the nation?

With only three places left in the final, our judges have some tough decisions to make. Who will take the long walkies home, and who is edging ever closer to becoming the Top Dog Model?

This week the competition gets tougher as our five hairy hopefuls take part in not one, but two photoshoots with the two world leading dog photographers. First, before the dogs get serious they are given a fun class in the world of art and the mighty mutts get the chance to become the next Pablo Pawcasso.

Once the doggies have tapped into their creative side they are made to be expressive once more when top photographer, Gez Gethings, shoots them for a greeting card cover. From ‘‘Get Well Soon’’ to ‘‘Congratulations’’, whose card will deliver the goods?

And as it wasn’t difficult enough, our furry friends will also be plunged in at the deep end in a shoot with the worlds leading underwater dog photographer, Seth Casteel.

With two photos to judge our canine contenders on, our panel have some tough decisions to make.

But whose walking home as their journey comes to an end? And who is clawing closer to being crowned our first Top Dog Model?

Episode 3 sees the final six pooches getting pampered with facials, ‘pawdicures’ and blow-dries at a top London grooming salon as a treat for making it through the auditions and Paw Camp. With this week’s modelling assignment looming it’s not long before our dolled up dogs are set to training for their first ever advert shoot, help is on hand as superstar doggie duo Ashleigh and Pudsey give the dogs and owners some training.

When the big day of the advert shoot arrives, judge Addison Witt directs our dogs through a series of scenes, but will what they have learnt in their training session help them cut it on the small screen? The pressure is on as this performance will determine who will be leaving the competition at this week’s elimination.

Who will ‘sit and stay’ in the contest and who will be sent walkies?

Episode 2 see’s the successful auditionees face the next stage of the ultimate dog modelling contest, the exclusive Paw Camp. Here it will be determined which of our twenty-two pooches of all breeds, colours, shapes and sizes have what it takes to make it through to claim one of the coveted spots in the Final Six.

At Paw Camp, the twenty-two dogs are firstly pitted to go paw-to-paw in photo ‘battles’, testing how the mutts work together as well as how they deal interacting with a male model. From each ‘battle’ one dog will progress to the next stage of Paw Camp, whilst the other will be sent packing. As always, that decision falls to the Top Dog Model panel of judges.

After the first round we are now down to eleven dogs and owners. The reveal comes that they will be asked to parade and pose together on our ‘dogwalk’. Can the dogs demonstrate discipline, poise as well as catch the judges’ eye?

To ready themselves for the dogwalk task, Ashleigh and Pudsey are on hand to give the dogs and owners a dog training session. Ashleigh puts them through their paces and administers handy hints and tips to the nervous tail-waggers.

Ashleigh then joins Stacey, Addison and Lilah as the big moment comes for them to take to the runway. Once all the dogs have demonstrated their wares and strutted their stuff in front of our judges, it’s time for the eliminations to decide which dogs will make the Final Six.

Episode one sees dogs of all breeds, colours, shapes and sizes arrive from across the country for the first stage of auditions to strut their stuff in front of our judges. One by one the dogs and their owners meet the judges to see who has the necessary bow-wow factor. It’s down to the judges to decide which are the best to be chosen to attend an exclusive Paw Camp.

The judges see endless entertainment from the dogs, but who will they want to see more of? They see lots of amazing unique tricks, a musical performance, a dog that plays the piano, an owner who gives his gigantic dog a piggy back and the judges even get a royal visit. The judges are tough but who will get their seal of approval and make it through to the next stage and head to Paw Camp.

The dog owners believe their prized pet has the star quality to make it all the way to the end. They are in it to win it but which pooch has what it takes to be top dog above the rest?

There will be weekly eliminations by our expert panel of judges who will analyse the hounds’ hottest headshots and eliminate the weakest performer, ultimately leading to one lucky dog being crowned the country’s Top Dog Model.
