TV Five Anniversary Week

tenth anniversary week
from monday, 21.00

To celebrate Five’s tenth birthday, a selection of special programmes will be showing across the week from Monday.

Opening the festivities on Monday is ‘Britain’s Extraordinary Ten-Year-Olds’ at 21.00. This one-off documentary examines the lives of three amazing children who have triumphed over adversity. Each of these children has dealt with traumas that most adults will never experience in a lifetime. The film tells their stories and celebrates the heroics of three youngsters who, despite everything, remain lively, happy and grounded. More heroic ten-year-olds will be celebrated in a series of films to be aired nightly on Five News. A special edition of ‘The Wright Stuff’ during the week will be dedicated to a celebration of the channel.

On Tuesday at 20.00, ‘Being Ten’ gives a cast of celebrities a chance to remember their youth, while a group of ten-year-olds explain exactly what it means to be ten in 2007.

Gordon Brown will be put under the spotlight on Fridayat 19.30 when he faces a young panel in ‘Gordon Brown Meets the Ten-Year-Olds’. The programme, hosted by Kirsty Young, features an audience of ten-year-olds from across the country who will put the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the spot by quizzing him about issues close to their hearts, and to the hearts of children across Britain.

Also on Friday is ‘The Ten Demandments’ at 20.00. The show gives ten-year-old Abby the power to swap places with her parents, run the house, take charge of the family and control her own life. Abby will get the chance to intervene in the family routine with her own set of demands to which everyone must adhere.

Rounding off Friday’s anniversary programming is ‘I Blame the Spice Girls!’ at 21.00. Presented by Liza Tarbuck, this one-off comedy panel show celebrates the last ten fabulous years – the music, the fashions, the politics, and of course the TV shows that have marked out Five’s unique history.
