DI Neil Manson (Andrew Lancel) returns from his sabbatical and quickly makes it clear to his team that he is determined to get them back on track. His grumpiness is seen as a challenge to DC Stevie Moss (Lucy Speed), who is paired up with him to work on a case involving Mark Griffin (Nick Court), who has gone missing on his wedding day after an apparent burglary.

As the case progresses, Neil and Stevie begin to think that Mark may have been cheating on his fiancée, Jenna Murray (Nicky Ladanowski), with her best friend and bridesmaid, Kelly Harper (Joanna Bobin). Jenna soon reaches the same conclusion and makes best man, Adam Sharkey (Jack Pierce) drive her to Sun Hill. Fuelled by anger, Jenna sees Kelly leaving the station after being interviewed and Neil gets caught in the crossfire when she throws a punch.

After taking some time out to mourn the loss of PC Emma Keane (Melanie Gutteridge), Sergeant Stone (Sam Callis) throws himself back into work where he assures PCs Sally Armstrong (Ali Bastian), Ben Gayle (Micah Balfour) and Will Fletcher (Gary Lucy) that he will find the bomber. However, Sun Hill are soon horrified when they receive another message telling them that another bomb is going to explode in three hours time.

Desperately trying to piece together the evidence, DC Grace Dasari (Amita Dhiri) interviews Carl Adams (Mark Bagnall) and Jeff Bowman (Mark Moraghan), who were targeted in the previous bombs. She also talks to James Marfield (Henry Miller), who’s flatmate was killed in the blasts. After further investigation, the Sun Hill officers are shocked to the core when they discover that Emma’s murderer has been in the station throughout the entire investigation and has now disappeared.

The morning after the explosions that rocked London, shocked Sun Hill officers attempt to come to terms with the sudden death of their colleague, PC Emma Keane (Melanie Gutteridge). As they wait to be briefed, Superintendent Heaton (Daniel Flynn) and DCI Jack Meadows (Simon Rouse) introduce the officers to DI Karen Lacy (Liz May Brice) from the Counter Terrorism Unit, who informs them that this is her investigation.

Later the team receive cryptic emails about the bombs apparently sent by main suspect, Carl Adams (Mark Bagnall). Sergeant Stone (Sam Callis) and PC Sally Armstrong (Ali Bastian) work together to find Carl and, for the first time since Emma’s death, Stone begins to reveal how guilty he feels about it. His confession is cut short when they spot Carl who tries to escape on his motorbike. After an intense chase, Sally’s emotions catch up with her and after she arrests Carl, she falls into Stones arms, sobbing.

PCs Emma Keane (Melanie Gutteridge) and Sally Armstrong (Ali Bastian) are out on patrol when two explosions are heard and the officers watch horrified as a thick black smoke spreads across the sky. With multiple casualties to deal with, Sergeant Stone (Sam Callis) takes charge of aftermath along with officers from Sun Hill and Barton Street police stations. Sally, Emma and PC Will Fletcher (Gary Lucy) deal with the rising hysteria with Inspector Gina Gold (Roberta Taylor) and Superintendent John Heaton (Daniel Flynn) back at the station - the footage on the news stuns them all.

**Patrick Robinson’s first episode as new regular, DC Jacob Banks. Guest starring Gordon Kennedy as Jim Lawson and Carol Starks as Jenny Curtis**

A hungover DC Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) is introduced to new recruit, DC Jacob Banks (Patrick Robinson) at a crime scene, where private detective Harry Burroughs has been found murdered.

Elsewhere, PC Emma Keane (Melanie Gutteridge) and Sergeant Stone (Sam Callis) continue to clash when Stone gives her the grim task of informing Harry’s wife about his death. Knowing that Stone has a special relationship with his other PCs, Emma feels frustrated and takes it out on PC Sally Armstrong (Ali Bastian) who is left feeling guilty.

Dressed in a sharp suit and killer heels PC Sally Armstrong (Ali Bastian) walks through the busy foyer of a city trading house and doesn’t fail to turn a few heads. As Sally emerges onto the street to get lunch, DCI Jack Meadows (Simon Rouse) pulls up in his car and she fills him in on how her first week undercover has gone.

Jack is pleased when she admits she has managed to get in with one of the suspects Andrew Shield (Laurence Hobbs) in the case of missing twenty-one year old, Geraldine. Back at the nick, Jack fills Geraldine’s worried father, Jim (Gordon Kennedy) in on the case and says there are three main suspects who were all at the bar the night his daughter went missing and they are getting closer to tracking down her last movements.

Stuck in traffic, DS Max Carter (Christopher Fox) and DC Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron) antagonise each other until the atmosphere in the car is thick with tension. Becoming more and more frustrated by the traffic jam and each other, they are suddenly alerted to the frantic screams of a female driver ahead of them.

Jumping out of their car, they witness two men, later identified as brothers Stefan (Rad Kaim) and Feliks Adamski (Laurentiu Possa) dragging a woman out of her car in an attempt to steal it. In the midst of the confusion, one of the brothers stabs the woman to death and after helplessly watching the suspects get away, Max and Terry fuel their anger by arguing over who was holding the knife.

After nicking Anthony Howell (Chris Brazier), committing armed robbery with a sawn-off shot gun, DCI Jack Meadows (Simon Rouse) volunteers to go undercover to nail the dealer selling the bent gear. After interviewing Howell, Jack and DS Stuart Turner (Doug Rao) are eventually given the name of the shop where the stolen goods came from.

DC Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) and PC Tony Stamp (Graham Cole) are tasked to find out more about shop owner Phil Agombar (David Barnaby), who reluctantly admits to being forced to sell the goods out of his shop for a couple of men higher up the chain. Jack is particularly keen to arrest one of the men Roy Summers (Michael N Harbour), who killed a colleague of his some years ago but walked away from court on a technicality.

After the shocking murder of Jacko Jackson (Sam Woodward), the grandson of infamous gangster Johnnie (Edward Woodward), Sergeant Smith (Alex Walkinshaw) and DS Max Carter (Christopher Fox) examine the scene of the crime. The officers eventually find Johnnie who is covered in blood and admits he argued with Jacko but can’t remember all the details due to the onset of Alzheimer’s.

The investigation soon focuses on Roger Hutton (Tim Woodward), Johnnie’s illegitimate son, who has a motive after Jacko confessed all to the police about Hutton’s drug and prostitution racquet. Smithy and Max later talk to Hutton’s mother and Johnnie’s long term lover, Doreen Fallon (Ann Mitchell) who claims that Johnnie was with her the time Jacko died.

Sergeant Smith (Alex Walkinshaw) and PC Will Fletcher (Gary Lucy) respond to a call where they discover a bloodied elderly man, later identified as Johnnie Jackson (Edward Woodward), once a notorious East End gangster. Will spots nearby teenager Disa Mirandello (Victoria Leung) who refuses to talk, but throws him her mobile phone which reveals footage of Johnnie being thrown out of a car and beaten up.

After checking himself out of St Hugh’s, DS Max Turner (Christopher Fox) is paired up with Smithy to visit Johnnie at home and the officers are surprised when his grandson, Jacko (Sam Woodward) bursts in. A furious Johnnie admits to the officers that Jacko deals drugs for someone who has connections to a dangerous man called Roger Hutton (Tim Woodward).

Paedophile Graham Rixton (Nick Waring) is questioned about an internet network he has been found on by DS Max Carter (Christopher Fox) and DC Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron), with Superintendents John Heaton (Daniel Flynn) and Tom Faraday (John Bowe) watching from a viewing room. The network has announced that a young boy, later identified as Simon Thomas, will be abused live on the internet that evening. Faraday explains that in order to save Simon, they need to find out who is running the network.

Back at the CEOP unit, DC Grace Dasari (Amita Dhiri) wonders how DI Phil Ashley (Paul Loughran) copes with the job after she is given the disturbing task of examining photographic evidence.

PCs Emma Keane (Melanie Gutteridge) and Roger Valentine (John Bowler) are shocked when they discover 13-year-old Jenny Waterson (Arati Menon) bleeding from an attempted suicide. At St Hughs, Jenny’s grandfather, Ken (Geoffrey Burton), and the officers are told there is evidence Jenny has been sexually assaulted.

At Jenny’s house, her room is examined and officers find a webcam and laptop, leading to concerns that it could be a case of online grooming. DC Grace Dasari (Amita Dhiri) takes the laptop to the CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection) headquarters where she meets Superintendent Tom Faraday (John Bowe) and grumpy technical wizard, DI Phil Ashley (Paul Loughran).

Answering a call out to a nearby estate by concerned neighbour Suzy Plummer (Jan Graveson), Sergeant Smith (Alex Walkinshaw) attends to pensioner Ivy Murray (Janet Whiteside), who has been attacked and burgled. DCs Stevie Moss (Lucy Speed) and Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) talk to Suzy who claims not to have seen anything, but neighbours reveal that Ivy had recently been arguing with two hoodies, Lee Weaver (Daniel Edwards) and Vinny Chapman (Elijah Baker).

After further investigation, the officers discover that Suzy, Lee’s mother, is handling stolen goods from a recent spate of burglaries in the area and selling them on the internet. A sting is arranged and the officers are shocked when a local Housing Association officer, Ian Simpson (Jim Pyke), turns up to buy the goods from Suzy and tries to make a run for it. He is later questioned and admits to the burglaries, but insists that he didn’t break into Ivy’s house.

PC Beth Green (Louisa Lytton) is excited when an opportunity arises to go undercover much to DS Max Carter’s (Christopher Fox) concern. Katy Taylor (Gemma Stone), arrested for possession of skunk, gives Beth the name of her supplier, Craig McKee (Richard Simons), and says that he will be at a party that night. Beth, undercover, attends the party as Katy’s friend and when Katy disappears, pirate radio DJ Lenny Jones (David Ajala) takes a shine to Beth.

Lenny, unaware she is a cop, helps her to look for Katy and the young officer is stunned when she sees Katy in a backroom with Earl Clarke (Chris Jarman) holding a gun. Beth claims she wants to buy drugs but Earl is suspicious. Max finally gets through to Beth on her mobile and tells her to get out as quickly as she can. After the pair leave, uniform raid the party and PC Tony Stamp (Graham Cole) arrests Craig. Outside, Lenny gives Beth his number and kisses her passionately.
