Five’s consumer technology show continues its new series, with Dallas Campbell joining regular presenters Jason Bradbury, Suzi Perry and Jon Bentley. In this week’s edition, Jason and Suzi review computer games that claim to whip both body and mind into shape. Elsewhere, Jon reveals what camera accessories have made it onto his top-five list; and Dallas tries out a jetpowered version of the dangerous street luge.
This week’s show sees Jason and Suzi getting competitive as they enter into a physical and mental challenge. Over six gruelling weeks, the pair try out the latest in exercise gadgets in an attempt to get fit – and increase their brain power.
But there is one catch. While Suzi will be trialling games that can be used in the home, Jason is armed with the latest in professional kit.
To kick off the training, the pair are put through their paces to measure IQ and fitness levels. Then they are let loose on their new toys.
To improve her fitness, Suzi works out with Nintendo’s Wii Fit. During quieter moments, she sends her brain to the gym by using Brain Trainer, a puzzle generator which has been loaded onto her Nintendo DS Lite.
Meanwhile, Jason tones his muscles on the Power Plate exercise machine. And to sharpen his mind, he plays on the Mindball Trainer, a device that uses neurofeedback to refocus the brain.
At the end of the show, Suzi and Jason’s fitness and IQ levels will be compared against their original assessments. And more importantly, it will be revealed whether the home or professional equipment gleaned the best results.
Also this week, Jon zooms in on the best camera accessories available on the market, and counts down his top-five finds. Then he hits the beach at Blackpool to see how three different pairs of high-tech sunglasses stand up against the sun’s rays.
Finally, Dallas takes a nail-biting ride on a souped-up version of the traditional street luge. Powered by a jet engine, this motorised luge can reach terrifying speeds of up to 110mph.
