Five’s consumer technology show continues its ninth series, with Dallas Campbell joining regular presenters Jason Bradbury, Suzi Perry and Jon Bentley. In this week’s edition, Suzi and Jon examine torches, cameras and kites; Dallas plays with his Scalextric; and Jason looks at some of the best festival gadgets available to buy.
The theme of this week’s Gadget Show is ‘lights, camera, action!’ as Jon and Suzi turn their attention to a range of flashy gadgets. Firstly, the fearless pair test two of the toughest torches on the market – the Surefire E1B and the Inova T4. These hardwearing devices were designed to light the way for the armed forces and undercover police officers – but can they handle a cliff-dive and a clash with a 30-tonne truck?
Next to be tested are the two most talked-about SLR cameras on the market, the Nikon D60 and the Canon EOS 450D. Taking one camera each, Jon and Suzi go head to head in a race to take the best pictures possible. Finally, the duo get extreme as they try out traction kites, pitting two of the best against each other in a kite-buggy race.
Elsewhere, Dallas has a go at breaking the Scalextric world speed record. After joining forces with the very best engineers he can find, he and his team fine-tune a special little car in a bid to smash into the ‘Guinness Book of Records’. Also this week, Jon, with the help of John Thompson, tests out the best ways to watch live TV whilst on the move; and Jason chills out as the Glastonbury, Reading and V festivals approach – which five gadgets will he choose to make his stay under the stars more comfortable?
