Five’s consumer technology show continues its ninth series, with Dallas Campbell joining regular hosts Jason Bradbury, Suzi Perry and Jon Bentley. This week’s edition sees the presenters embrace the hot weather as they test the latest in getaway gadgets, including underwater cameras, hardwearing luggage and seaworthy vehicles.

In this week’s Gadget Show challenge, Suzi and Jason get in the mood for travel as they examine a range of essential holiday items. First to be tested by the jaunty duo are underwater cameras. When seeking clear, high-quality images of beautiful coral reefs and exotic fish, is it best to splash out on a professional camera designed for use underwater, or will a waterproof casing for a regular digital camera suffice? Jason and Suzi get swimming and snapping to find out.

Next up, the travelling twosome take a look at the most rugged luggage on the market. After packing their valuables, they test some allegedly hardwearing suitcases to destruction in order to discover which case is most likely to survive the rigours of airline baggage-handling.

Finally, the presenters go head-to-head to test some of the coolest methods of water transport available. The first leg of the race sees Jason and Suzi use vehicles that rely on manpower to cut through the waves, while the second leg takes place onboard motorised conveyances. Which method will prove more efficient, and which presenter will come out on top?

Elsewhere, Jon Bentley grudgingly teams up with supermodel Helena Christensen in Cairo to examine how to take the best holiday photographs. He then enlists the help of posh actor Nigel Havers to test a range of e-readers – portable electronic devices that allow users to read digital books on the go. Which device is easiest to use, and how does the e-reader experience compare to the real thing?

Also this week, Dallas Campbell gives his rundown of the top-five travel gadgets to take on holiday this summer.
