heave ho thomas! (6/20)

The ever-popular children’s series continues its new run of railway adventures. Based on the original stories written by the Reverend W Awdry, Thomas & Friends invites children into a world of imagination where the exploits of a cheeky little tank engine and his trusty pals reflect all manner of life lessons. This series retains the traditional liveaction animation alongside new CGI effects that make the engines’ mouths move as they talk and allow the human characters to walk around their railway world.

In Monday’s episode, a big, brash engine called Hank offers to help Thomas with his chores, only for the little engine to shrug off his assistance. But Thomas comes to regret being so hasty when he cracks a cylinder and needs some help!

Tuesday’s instalment, ‘Toby’s Special Surprise’, sees Toby determined to find something special on the island in order to impress Sir Topham Hatt. But after searching all over Sodor without success, he runs out of coal and must call for help.

In ‘Excellent Emily’ on Wednesday, success goes to straight to Emily's head after the Fat Controller praises her. But she soon runs into trouble when given an important job to do. Her friends try to advise her on the best course to take, but Excellent Emily thinks she knows best – until her efforts end in disaster.

In ‘Push Me, Pull You’ on Thursday, a puppet show arrives on Sodor and Skarloey asks the Fat Controller if he can pull the special train. The trucks are very heavy, but instead of accepting Rheneas’s offer of help, Skarloey challenges him to a tug of war with the trucks.

And rounding off the week’s programmes on Friday is ‘Saved You!’. When a Sodor fireman is to be presented with a medal for bravery, Thomas decides to be a hero too. He tries to prove himself but causes havoc and disaster wherever he goes. Can he make amends?
